By N.C. law, the sheriff is responsible for civil matters, the courts, and the jail, but the responsibility goes much further than that. The sheriff is the true leader of the community, and all aspects related to the safety and security of the community are within the purview of the sheriff, from the safety of our children in our schools to the performance of our representatives in government. If it affects your safety and security, then I, as your sheriff, will stand up with steadfast courage for the people of Guilford County.
The smooth operation of the sheriff’s office duties and responsibilities when dealing with matters of law enforcement, the jail, courts, and civil matters will be handled as any other part of running day-to-day operations, with strict guidelines set forth by the sheriff, which will be interpreted as meaning with absolute honor and professionalism where all decisions are made in the best interest of the sheriff’s office and the people of Guilford County.
Billy Queen will surround himself with the most competent, professional, experienced, and honorable people to oversee the operations of the sheriff’s office, from his chief deputy to his first-line supervisors. All employees will be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism, no matter their persuasion or political affiliation. For me, Guilford County and its citizens will come first.
